Welcome to Camasunarie

Possibly the most remote holiday home on the Isle of Skye

As you reach the summit of the path to Camasunarie you are getting near. On a clear day the bay and house come into view below you. Looking West, Sgurr na Stri confronts you and behind it the main Cuillin Ridge fills your view, with Marsco, the Red Cuillin and Blaven to the North and a wonderful seascape with the islands of Soay, Canna, Rhum and Eigg to the South. If the day is really clear, you may see the Outer Isles beyond Soay. In wild weather, you may have to wait for this view, but shelter is at hand 20 minutes down the track.

About the House

When you reach the house, you will realise that this is something different. This is a very old farm house which has withstood all the weather this wild place has thrown at it for hundreds of years. You can get warm and comfortable in front of the fire and you can have a hot bath after a hard day, but there is no electricity, television, or washing machine and no telephone or mobile signal. When you look out of the windows you will realise you are in a special place. The changing light and cloud patterns add infinite variety. Most evenings red deer will come near to the house and the only sound is waves breaking on the shore.
